What Is CISCO-DMN-DSG-FETHRESHOLDS-MIB?

CISCO-DMN-DSG-FETHRESHOLDS-MIB is a Cisco proprietary MIB for front-end muting thresholds on the D9800 satellite receiver, defining the bit-error/signal-quality thresholds at which transport or audio outputs are muted or restored for DVB-S and DVB-S2 signals, part of the DMN DSG MIB family. It exposes configuration data: separate mute and restore thresholds for transport and audio under each DVB standard, plus a control object and a restore-defaults action. Its monitoring value is a direct indicator of RF front-end hardware health: whether the device has muted its output because the incoming satellite signal degraded past a threshold is a genuine signal-quality fault rather than a configuration issue. It is tied specifically to the DVB-S and DVB-S2 satellite broadcast standards. It is deployed on D9800 satellite receivers in broadcast headends receiving DVB-S/S2 feeds, where degraded signal must trigger automatic output muting to avoid delivering corrupted content. Engineers can download the CISCO-DMN-DSG-FETHRESHOLDS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-DMN-DSG-FETHRESHOLDS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco DMN D9800 digital satellite receiver

Monitoring Examples

mutingThresholdsTable/mutingThresholdsEntry, indexed by mutingThreshholdsInstance, exposes mutThreshDVBSTransportMute and mutThreshDVBSTransportRestore alongside the DVB-S2 equivalents; an operator polling mutThreshControl together with observed mute state can tell whether a recent output mute was caused by crossing mutThreshDVBS2TransportMute, indicating genuine RF signal degradation rather than a configuration error. mutThreshRestoreDefaults would be invoked to reset thresholds after resolving a tuning problem.

What Can Be Monitored

  • DVB-S/DVB-S2 transport mute/restore thresholds
  • audio mute/restore thresholds
  • current threshold control mode
  • signal-quality-driven mute state
