What Is CISCO-UBE-MIB?

This Cisco MIB manages the Cisco Unified Border Element (CUBE), a Cisco IOS Session Border Controller that interconnects independent VoIP and video-over-IP networks for data, voice, and video transport, typically via SIP and H.323 trunks. It exposes configuration/feature-status data (whether CUBE is enabled, its software version) and capacity configuration (maximum allowed concurrent sessions), alongside associated trunk and session statistics elsewhere in the module's object tree. Its monitoring emphasis is on software status central to voice/video gateway health: confirming the CUBE feature is enabled, tracking the running software version for compliance, and watching session-capacity utilization against the configured ceiling to anticipate call rejections. It operates in conjunction with SIP and H.323 signaling standards, and typically alongside other Cisco voice MIBs on the same IOS platform. Typical deployment is on Cisco IOS routers acting as an SBC at the interconnection point between independent VoIP/video networks or service providers, where CISCO-UBE-MIB SNMP monitoring helps confirm CUBE feature status and session-capacity headroom.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-UBE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco IOS routers configured as Unified Border Element (CUBE) session border controllers

Monitoring Examples

cubeEnabled indicates whether the CUBE feature is currently active on the router, cubeVersion reports the running CUBE software version for tracking against known-good releases, and cubeTotalSessionAllowed exposes the configured ceiling on concurrent SIP/H.323 sessions. An admin polling active session counts against cubeTotalSessionAllowed can detect when a voice/video gateway is nearing capacity and at risk of rejecting new calls, or notice cubeEnabled unexpectedly reporting disabled after a configuration change.

What Can Be Monitored

  • CUBE feature enabled status
  • CUBE software version
  • maximum allowed concurrent sessions
  • SIP/H.323 trunk and session utilization
