Description: Monitors active faults, alarm history, and fault severity on the Cisco DMN D9800 digital satellite gateway.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-DMN-DSG-FAULT-MIB?
CISCO-DMN-DSG-FAULT-MIB, the DSG Fault Information MIB, belongs to Cisco's Digital Media Network Digital Satellite Gateway product family and centralizes fault and alarm reporting for D9800-series satellite receiver/gateway devices. It exposes summary counts of active alarms and warnings, a detailed active-fault list table, and controls for clearing alarms, warnings, or historical fault records. This MIB is squarely a fault/health-monitoring module: faultSummaryNumActiveAlarms and faultSummaryNumActiveWarnings give an at-a-glance device health indicator, while awFaultActiveListTable provides per-fault detail including priority, name, type, and the time each fault was set, effectively serving as the device's hardware/software fault log. It is a self-contained Cisco-specific MIB with no notable dependency on external standard MIBs. It is used in satellite headend operations centers to give NOC staff real-time visibility into gateway hardware and processing faults across a fleet of receivers. Engineers can download the CISCO-DMN-DSG-FAULT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-DMN-DSG-FAULT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco D9800 series Digital Satellite Gateway/receivers (Digital Media Network product family)
Monitoring Examples
A NOC operator would poll faultSummaryNumActiveAlarms and faultSummaryNumActiveWarnings for a quick health check, then drill into awFaultActiveListTable (via awFaultActiveListEntry) to read awFaultActiveListPriority, awFaultActiveListName, and awFaultActiveListSetDateTime for each outstanding fault. A rising faultSummaryNumActiveAlarms count combined with a high-priority entry in awFaultActiveListTable would point to a specific hardware or transcoding subsystem failure needing escalation. After remediation, faultSummaryClearAlarms or faultSummaryClearHistory would be used to reset the counters and log.
What Can Be Monitored

- active warning count
- fault priority
- fault name/type
- fault set time
