What Is CISCO-DMN-DSG-FAVORITE-MIB?

CISCO-DMN-DSG-FAVORITE-MIB is a Cisco Digital Media Network (DMN) MIB used to manage favorite-channel lists and service presets on the Cisco DMN D9800 satellite receiver platform. It exposes configuration-oriented tables listing favorite channel entries, their position/order, name, type, and last-viewed channel, along with a control object to issue commands such as channel-scan mode. As a largely configuration/user-preference MIB it is less about hardware health and more about confirming the device's software-managed channel-list state is correctly provisioned and in sync with the operator's intended service lineup. It is a Cisco-proprietary extension with no notable dependency on external standard MIBs beyond general SNMP table-management conventions (RowStatus). It is deployed on Cisco D9800 satellite/cable head-end receivers in broadcast/video-distribution operations centers. Engineers can download the CISCO-DMN-DSG-FAVORITE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-DMN-DSG-FAVORITE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco DMN D9800 satellite/cable receiver

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll entries in favoriteListTable - favoriteListName, favoriteListPosition, and favoriteListChLastViewed - to verify the favorite channel list programmed on a D9800 receiver matches the intended lineup and ordering. favoriteListRowStatus would be checked to confirm a given favorite list entry is active rather than stuck in a notReady or notInService state after a provisioning change. favoriteChScanMode and favoriteCtrlCmd would be used to trigger and monitor the outcome of a channel scan operation on the receiver.

What Can Be Monitored

  • favorite channel list contents and order
  • favorite list row/provisioning status
  • last-viewed channel per list
  • channel scan mode/command state
