Description: Manages Cisco Diameter Session Gateway functions, monitoring protocol conversion, session routing, and AAA proxy operations.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-DIAMETER-SG-MIB?
CISCO-DIAMETER-SG-MIB manages Cisco's Diameter Server Group functionality, used in mobile/AAA infrastructure where Diameter servers handle authentication, authorization, and accounting for services such as Diameter-based session gateways. It exposes configuration tables for server groups and the individual Diameter servers within each group, including group/server names, storage type, and row status for provisioning via SNMP SET. This is primarily a software/configuration-state monitoring MIB: it lets an operator confirm which Diameter servers are configured in a group, their administrative row status, and whether the configuration is persisted, which is critical for diagnosing AAA/session-routing service availability. It relies on the standard SNMPv2 RowStatus/StorageType textual conventions (RFC 2579) for its provisioning model. It is typically deployed on Cisco platforms acting as Diameter Session Gateways within mobile core or broadband AAA infrastructure. Engineers can download the CISCO-DIAMETER-SG-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-DIAMETER-SG-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco Diameter Session Gateway platforms
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would walk cdsgServerGroupTable/cdsgServerGroupEntry to confirm all expected Diameter server groups (cdsgServerGroupName) show cdsgServerGroupRowStatus active, then drill into cdsgServerTable/cdsgServerEntry to verify each cdsgServerName within a group has the expected cdsgServerRowStatus. An unexpected notInService or notReady row status on a server entry would indicate a misconfigured or failed Diameter server impacting AAA/session routing for that group.
What Can Be Monitored
- Diameter server group configuration
- server group row/storage status
- individual server entries per group
- server row status
