Category: Cisco Devices, Quality of Service

Description: Extends the standard DiffServ MIB with Cisco-specific objects for DSCP marking, queuing policies, and traffic conditioning.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-DIFFSERV-EXT-MIB?

CISCO-DIFFSERV-EXT-MIB is a Cisco Systems Inc. proprietary MIB extending the standard DIFFSERV-MIB (RFC 3289) with a Fibre Channel (FC) Multi-Field classifier for associating DiffServ classifiers to VSAN (Virtual Storage Area Network) interfaces. Its objects cover a data-path table (direction, classifier start, status), a classifier table (name, next-free-element), an FC-Multi-Field-classifier table (ID, name, match, status, next-free-statement), a match-statement table (ID, source/destination address, interface, status, wildcard), and a rate-limit table. As a configuration MIB it lets an administrator confirm which DiffServ classifiers apply to Fibre Channel traffic on a Cisco VSAN interface. It is deployed on Cisco Systems Fibre Channel/VSAN switching equipment. Engineers can download the CISCO-DIFFSERV-EXT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-DIFFSERV-EXT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco Systems Fibre Channel/VSAN switching equipment

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks cdsmFCMultiFieldMatchSrcAddr and cdsmDataPathTable to confirm which DiffServ classifier applies to Fibre Channel traffic on a Cisco VSAN interface.

What Can Be Monitored

  • DiffServ classifier association to Fibre Channel/VSAN interfaces
