Category: Cisco Devices, Device Management, SNMP Framework
Description: Defines SNMP agent capability statements for the Cisco Data Collection MIB used for periodic SNMP data sampling.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-DATA-COLLECTION-CAPABILITY?
CISCO-DATA-COLLECTION-CAPABILITY is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES conformance module declaring which parts of CISCO-DATA-COLLECTION-MIB a particular Cisco agent implementation supports. It defines no data objects of its own, only capability statements pointing to object groups and compliance clauses in the base data-collection MIB. It has no direct monitoring function; it exists solely to let management systems determine which periodic SNMP data-collection features (VFile creation, scheduling, etc.) a given device supports. It is entirely dependent on CISCO-DATA-COLLECTION-MIB. It would be consulted during MIB capability negotiation rather than operational monitoring, and the CISCO-DATA-COLLECTION-CAPABILITY MIB is referenced by management systems solely for that capability check.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-DATA-COLLECTION-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- vendor-neutral SNMP tooling context; applies to Cisco devices implementing CISCO-DATA-COLLECTION-MIB
Monitoring Examples
This module defines no data objects (sample_objects is empty); there is no realistic monitoring scenario since it exists only to declare which CISCO-DATA-COLLECTION-MIB groups a device implements.
