Description: Defines SNMP agent capability statements for the Cisco DHCP Snooping MIB on Catalyst switch platforms.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-DHCP-SNOOPING-CAPABILITY?
This module is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES statement for the CISCO-DHCP-SNOOPING-MIB, part of Cisco's Catalyst switch management MIB family. Rather than defining data objects itself, it declares which groups and variations of the DHCP Snooping MIB a particular agent implementation actually supports. As a conformance module it exposes no live hardware or software runtime state on its own, so it plays no direct role in monitoring uptime, temperature, CPU load, or similar operational metrics. It depends entirely on the CISCO-DHCP-SNOOPING-MIB it describes and on standard SNMPv2 conformance conventions (AGENT-CAPABILITIES, MODULE-COMPLIANCE). It is used internally by NMS platforms and Cisco's own tooling during MIB compilation to determine feature support per software/hardware release, not for day-to-day polling. Engineers can download the CISCO-DHCP-SNOOPING-CAPABILITY file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-DHCP-SNOOPING-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco Catalyst switches
- vendor-specific conformance module, not a data-bearing MIB
Monitoring Examples
As an AGENT-CAPABILITIES module it defines no runtime-monitorable objects itself, only which groups of CISCO-DHCP-SNOOPING-MIB (such as DHCP snooping binding and interface trust tables) are supported by a given image. There is no realistic polling scenario to describe here; monitoring of DHCP snooping bindings and trusted-port state happens through the referenced CISCO-DHCP-SNOOPING-MIB itself.
