What Is CISCO-CALL-RESOURCE-POOL-MIB?

CISCO-CALL-RESOURCE-POOL-MIB supports the Resource Pool Manager feature of Cisco IOS, used to accept or reject calls based on DNIS numbers, required resources, DNS domains, and active session counts on Cisco voice/call-processing platforms. It exposes configuration for DNIS groups and their members, per-call-type treatment settings, and operational status of DNIS group call type entries. Its monitoring value lies in software-level call admission control status: ccrpDnisGroupCallTypeOperStatus reveals whether a resource pool for a given call type is operationally up, and call treatment settings show how the system responds when resources are exhausted, effectively surfacing capacity/health of call handling logic. It builds on Cisco IOS voice/dial-peer infrastructure rather than an external standard. It is deployed on Cisco IOS gateways or voice routers that need policy-based call admission and load balancing across DNIS-defined call groups, and the CISCO-CALL-RESOURCE-POOL-MIB download lets administrators load it directly into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-CALL-RESOURCE-POOL-MIB. Monitoring Examples

An admin would check ccrpDnisGroupCallTypeTable, indexed by ccrpDnisGroupName and ccrpDnisGroupCallType, examining ccrpDnisGroupCallTypeOperStatus to confirm a DNIS group's resource pool is operationally active. If ccrpNoResourceCallTreatment shows calls are being rejected or redirected, combined with a down operational status for a group, that indicates the gateway has exhausted resources for that call type. Reviewing ccrpDnisGroupMember entries confirms which DNIS numbers are covered by a given pool.

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using ccrpDnisStatisticsTableLengthExceeded OID:

Select a Cisco IOS voice gateway/router as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type ccrpDnisStatisticsTableLengthExceeded into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, then select it and click OK. The number of times a new DNIS has been ignored due to the ccrpDnisStatisticsTableMaxLength having been reached since last system re-initialization. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is a Counter32-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the counter increases sharply between polls relative to its normal baseline, since an unexpected spike often reflects a real change in traffic or activity. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
