Description: Declares SNMP agent capabilities for the Cisco cable diagnostic MIB.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-CABLE-DIAG-CAPABILITY?

CISCO-CABLE-DIAG-CAPABILITY is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES conformance module, not a data-bearing MIB; it formally declares which parts of CISCO-CABLE-DIAG-MIB a given Cisco device/agent implementation actually supports. It contains no runtime object definitions itself, only capability statements referencing groups and compliance clauses defined elsewhere. Consequently it has no role in monitoring hardware or software status directly; it exists purely so that network management systems can determine, at MIB-compatibility time, which cable diagnostic features are present on a particular device. It is entirely dependent on CISCO-CABLE-DIAG-MIB, the module whose object groups it documents support for. It is used internally by MIB-aware management tools during capability negotiation with the CISCO-CABLE-DIAG-CAPABILITY MIB rather than during day-to-day monitoring.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-CABLE-DIAG-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • vendor-neutral SNMP tooling context; applies to Cisco cable modem termination system (CMTS) platforms that implement CISCO-CABLE-DIAG-MIB

Monitoring Examples

This module defines no data objects (sample_objects is empty) and is not something an operator would poll; it is only consulted by SNMP tooling to confirm whether a device implements the CISCO-CABLE-DIAG-MIB groups it references.
