Description: Declares SNMP agent capabilities for the Cisco 802.1X authentication framework MIB.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-AUTH-FRAMEWORK-CAPABILITY?

CISCO-AUTH-FRAMEWORK-CAPABILITY is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES conformance module documenting which parts of the CISCO-AUTH-FRAMEWORK-MIB (Cisco's 802.1X-based port-authentication framework) a given Cisco agent implementation supports. It belongs to Cisco's network access/authentication (802.1X) technology area. As a pure capabilities/conformance module it defines no managed objects or data tables of its own — no interface, environment, or performance data — and therefore plays no direct role in monitoring hardware or software status; instead it tells NMS tooling which authentication-framework objects a specific device/software release implements. It is entirely dependent on the CISCO-AUTH-FRAMEWORK-MIB it describes and has no independent meaning apart from that base MIB. It is used at MIB-compile/capability-negotiation time for Cisco switches running 802.1X-based authentication features, not during live SNMP monitoring. Engineers can download the CISCO-AUTH-FRAMEWORK-CAPABILITY file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-AUTH-FRAMEWORK-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco switches running 802.1X port-based authentication (conformance statement only)

Monitoring Examples

This module contains no managed objects or tables to poll; it is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES statement describing which CISCO-AUTH-FRAMEWORK-MIB objects a given Cisco software release implements. There is no monitoring scenario to describe here — its only use is at MIB-compilation/capability-negotiation time, not for live polling.
