Organization: Cisco Systems, Inc.
Last Updated: 2010-10-13
Category: Cisco Devices, Telephony and VoIP
Description: Covers monitoring and management of Cisco CallManager Express (CME), an IOS-based IP PBX designed for small branch telephony deployments.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-CCME-MIB?
CISCO-CCME-MIB manages Cisco CallManager Express (CCME), an IOS-based feature that turns a Cisco router into a Key System or Hybrid PBX for enterprise branch offices or small businesses, placing it in the voice/telephony technology area. It exposes configuration and status data about the CCME feature itself, including whether it is enabled, its software version, listening IP address and port, and capacity limits for ephones, directory numbers, and conferences. This supports monitoring both software status (ccmeEnabled, ccmeVersion) and operational capacity of the embedded PBX, letting an admin confirm the service is running the expected version and check whether configured maximums (ephones, directory numbers, conferences, redirects) are being approached, which would signal a branch office nearing its phone system's scaling limits. It runs as an IOS feature and would interoperate with standard telephony/voice MIBs and Cisco's broader IOS voice gateway MIB set, though it is largely self-contained for CCME-specific parameters. It is deployed on Cisco IOS routers at branch offices or small businesses using CCME for local IP telephony instead of a full Cisco Unified Communications Manager cluster. Engineers can download the CISCO-CCME-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-CCME-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express (CME) routers
Monitoring Examples
An admin would poll ccmeEnabled and ccmeVersion to confirm the CCME feature is active and running the expected software version on a branch router, then check ccmeIPAddress/ccmePortNumber to verify the service is listening where expected. Comparing current registered endpoint counts against ccmeMaxEphones and ccmeMaxDirectoryNumber reveals whether the branch is approaching its phone/DN capacity limit, a common cause of new phone registration failures. ccmeVoiceMailNumber and ccmeMwiRelay would be checked when diagnosing voicemail or message-waiting-indicator issues, and ciscoCcmeMIBNotifs would alert on relevant state changes.
What Can Be Monitored
- CCME feature enabled status
- CCME software version
- listening IP address and port
- maximum ephones/directory numbers/conferences configured
- voicemail number and MWI relay configuration
