This controls whether this pseudowire will actively send an LDP status-query request to the remote peer specifically when the PW first comes up and this router doesn't yet know the peer's current fault status -- a proactive mechanism to avoid assuming the remote end is fault-free by default before it has explicitly reported in. With this enabled, a newly-established pseudowire won't be treated as fully healthy until the remote status has actually been confirmed via query, closing a window where a silently-faulted remote end might otherwise go undetected. If this is off(2) and a pseudowire comes up right as the remote end happens to have an unreported fault, that fault could go unnoticed until the next status update arrives on its own.
