This object specifies whether the MPLS TTL for this dynamic encap tunnel is fixed or inherited from the frame, the same choice available on static tunnels but spelled out with explicit fixed and inherit values in this object's own syntax. The operational tradeoff is identical to the static case: inherit preserves accurate end-to-end traceroute behavior for the customer, while fixed hides the internal MPLS hop count from anyone tracerouting across the carrier's core. For example, choosing fixed(1) on a signaled tunnel deliberately hides the number of internal hops the LSP actually traverses, even though that hop count can change automatically if the tunnel gets resignaled onto a different path.
