This specifies the level of path diversity required between this tunnel and its protection partner — none, link, node, or SRLG (shared risk link group) disjoint. This setting is what actually makes a backup tunnel useful: if it's only link-disjoint but shares a node or an underlying fiber conduit (SRLG) with the primary, a single equipment failure or a backhoe cutting one duct can take out both paths at once, defeating the point of having a backup at all. A carrier-grade service on tunnel 'MIA-HOU-T-03' might require srlg(4) disjointness, ensuring its backup avoids not just the same links but any shared physical fiber bundle with the primary.
