What is cienaCesGmplsAssociatedProtectionRole?
This states whether this tunnel is configured as the primary (working) or backup (protection) path within its tunnel group, or has no protection role at all. The value here is what a protection scheme checks before deciding which of two tunnels should be carrying live traffic at any moment, so misreading a backup tunnel as primary (or vice versa) is a classic way an admin gets confused about why traffic is or isn't flowing where expected. Tunnel 'MIA-HOU-LSP-02' might report backup(2), meaning it only carries traffic if its designated primary partner tunnel fails.
