Description: Manages local user accounts and authentication settings on Cisco IE1000 industrial Ethernet switches.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CIE1000-USERS-MIB?
The CIE1000-USERS-MIB is a Cisco proprietary MIB module for the Cisco IE1000 series industrial Ethernet switches, part of Cisco's ruggedized networking product line for factory and industrial automation environments. It exposes configuration data for local user accounts, including usernames, privilege levels, and encrypted passwords stored on the switch. Rather than hardware health metrics, this MIB is used to monitor and manage the software-level security configuration of the device - specifically the state of local authentication accounts and any pending row-editor changes to user credentials. It has an implicit dependency on Cisco's broader IE1000 private enterprise MIB tree and standard SNMP row-status conventions for table manipulation. It is typically deployed by network administrators auditing or provisioning local login accounts on industrial switches deployed in plant-floor or process-control networks. Engineers can download the CIE1000-USERS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CIE1000-USERS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco IE1000 industrial Ethernet switch
Monitoring Examples
An administrator can poll cie1000UsersConfigTable / cie1000UsersConfigEntry to enumerate all configured local accounts via cie1000UsersConfigUsername and cie1000UsersConfigPrivilege, verifying that only authorized privilege levels exist. The cie1000UsersConfigEncrypted and cie1000UsersConfigPassword objects reveal whether passwords are stored in encrypted form, an important compliance check. Using cie1000UsersConfigTableRowEditorAction, an operator can also detect in-progress edits to user entries that have not yet been committed, catching stalled or abandoned provisioning changes.
What Can Be Monitored
- configured local usernames
- privilege levels
- password encryption status
- pending row-editor account changes
- row status of user entries
