What Is CENTILLION-LANE-V2-EXT-MIB?

CENTILLION-LANE-V2-EXT-MIB is a Nortel (Bay Networks) enterprise MIB extending ATM LAN Emulation (LANE) version 2 support for the Centillion series of ATM switches. It exposes configuration objects for LANE v2 capability and parameters across the LAN Emulation Server (LES), LAN Emulation Configuration Server (LECS), and Emulated LAN (ELAN) roles, including ELAN IDs, maximum frame size, and well-known ATM addresses. As a configuration-oriented legacy networking MIB, it is used mainly to verify the software-level LANE service configuration state, confirming that LES/LECS/ELAN instances are correctly enabled for v2 and consistently parameterized, rather than exposing physical hardware sensors. It extends the standard ATM Forum LANE v2 specification and complements Nortel's base LANE MIB. It was deployed in legacy enterprise campus networks running ATM backbones with Centillion switches during the ATM LAN emulation era. Engineers can download the CENTILLION-LANE-V2-EXT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CENTILLION-LANE-V2-EXT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Nortel/Bay Networks Centillion ATM switch

Monitoring Examples

A network engineer checks cnLesV2ExtnTable for cnLesV2ExtnV2Capable and cnLesV2ExtnElanID to confirm a given LAN Emulation Server instance is running in LANE v2 mode with the expected ELAN identifier. cnLecsV2ExtnTable's cnLecsV2ExtnWellKnownAtmAddress is verified to ensure LECs can locate the configuration server at the standard well-known address. Mismatches between cnElanV2ExtnV2Capable settings across the ELAN, LES, and LECS tables would explain why some emulated LAN clients fail to join the emulated network at the expected protocol version.

What Can Be Monitored

  • LANE v2 capability per server/ELAN
  • ELAN ID
  • maximum frame size
  • LECS well-known ATM address
  • LANE service configuration consistency
