What Is CDATA-COMMON-SMI?
CDATA-COMMON-SMI is the Structure of Management Information module defining the top-level private enterprise OID hierarchy for C-Data Technology's EPON/GPON optical line terminal (OLT) equipment. It belongs to the passive optical networking/fiber access technology area. As a pure SMI registration module it establishes the shared OID root under which C-Data's actual EPON/GPON OLT and ONU management MIBs, covering PON port status, ONU registration, optical signal levels, and system health, are built, rather than exposing monitoring data itself. It therefore has no direct objects for uptime, temperature, or optical power — those are defined in dependent C-Data OLT/ONU-specific MIB modules layered on this tree. Because the CDATA-COMMON-SMI MIB file contains no data objects of its own, compiling it is only a prerequisite step before loading the dependent C-Data OLT/ONU modules that expose actual PON port and optical-power data. It depends on the standard SNMPv2-SMI enterprise-registration convention and is a required prerequisite for loading any other C-Data-specific MIB. It is used by broadband/fiber access operators deploying C-Data EPON/GPON OLT equipment.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CDATA-COMMON-SMI. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- C-Data FD1616S-B0 — 1U 16-port GPON OLT with 1:128 split ratio
- C-Data FD1208S-R1 — 1U 8-port EPON OLT with 10GE uplinks
Monitoring Examples
CDATA-COMMON-SMI contains no sample objects because it is solely an OID-registration module; there is no runtime monitoring scenario for this module itself — actual PON port, ONU status, and optical-power monitoring would be found in the dependent C-Data OLT MIBs rooted under this tree.
