Description: Extends the standard ENTITY-MIB with Casa Systems-specific physical entity attributes for CMTS hardware inventory.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CASA-ENTITY-EXT-MIB?
CASA-ENTITY-EXT-MIB is a Casa Systems enterprise MIB that extends the standard IETF ENTITY-MIB with additional physical-entity attributes specific to Casa's CMTS (Cable Modem Termination System) IPQAM hardware. Its purpose is to enrich the standard entity/physical-inventory model with vendor-specific fields for cable-headend hardware components such as line cards, chassis slots, and modules. Its monitoring value centers on hardware inventory and status: extending ENTITY-MIB implies exposing additional attributes for physical component identification, presence, and possibly health state for the CMTS/IPQAM chassis, complementing standard entity sensor and physical-index data. It explicitly depends on the standard ENTITY-MIB, since it is described as an extension of that base module's object model. It is deployed on Casa Systems CMTS and IPQAM headend equipment used by cable operators for DOCSIS and video delivery. Engineers can download the CASA-ENTITY-EXT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CASA-ENTITY-EXT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Monitoring Examples
No sample objects were provided for this MIB, so specific table or object names cannot be grounded to a concrete scenario; in typical ENTITY-MIB-extension usage, an operator would cross-reference the standard entPhysicalTable entries with this MIB's additional attributes to identify Casa-specific line-card or IPQAM module details not captured by the base standard, such as vendor-specific hardware revision or slot health information.
