Description: Defines identification objects and product OID registrations for Casa Systems cable CMTS equipment.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CASA-ID-MIB?
CASA-ID-MIB is a Casa Systems enterprise MIB that defines identification objects and product OID registrations for the vendor's cable CMTS chassis family, covering models such as the 2100, 2200, 2300, 2800, 3000, and 6000 series. Like other vendor identity MIBs, its objects (casa2100System, casa2200System, casa2300System, casa2800System, casa3000System, casa6000System) are primarily used as sysObjectID values rather than as pollable runtime counters. Its practical role is hardware identification, allowing management systems to determine exactly which Casa chassis model is being managed so that the correct product-specific monitoring MIBs and thresholds are applied, rather than reporting status itself. It has no apparent functional dependency beyond standard SNMP SMI/enterprises OID conventions, though it is expected to be paired with separate Casa MIBs that expose actual performance and fault data. It is deployed across the full range of Casa Systems CMTS chassis in cable operator headends, where CASA-ID-MIB OID registrations let management systems identify each chassis model precisely.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CASA-ID-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Casa Systems CMTS chassis (2100/2200/2300/2800/3000/6000 series)
Monitoring Examples
This module is chiefly an identification/OID registration set rather than a source of pollable runtime data, so the realistic use is management software reading the device's sysObjectID and matching it against branches like casa2800System or casa6000System to determine the exact chassis model in use, rather than a live monitoring scenario involving counters or thresholds.
