Description: Defines the root OID enterprise registration for Buffalo Technology network storage products.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is BUFFALO-ROOT-MIB?

BUFFALO-ROOT-MIB is Buffalo Technology's private enterprise MIB defining the root OID registration tree for its networking and storage product line. Rather than exposing runtime operational data, it enumerates model-identifier nodes (switches, NAS units, wireless products) registered under Buffalo's enterprise OID branch, for use by product-specific sub-MIBs built on top of it. It carries no direct hardware or software status monitoring capability itself — actual metrics such as CPU load, disk status, or power/fan health would be exposed by separate Buffalo product MIBs or standard HOST-RESOURCES-MIB-style extensions layered beneath this root. It functions as the foundational dependency for every other Buffalo private MIB, since those modules reference OIDs registered here. It is used across Buffalo Technology's consumer/SMB networking product line (LinkStation-class NAS, managed switches, wireless products) as the shared OID registry referenced by device-specific management MIBs. Engineers can download the BUFFALO-ROOT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in BUFFALO-ROOT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Buffalo Technology managed switches and NAS/wireless products (various models)

Monitoring Examples

The sample objects (lsm-10-100-8, lsm-10-100-24, lsm-l3-24, wlm-series, vsm-p12tx2i, lsm-10-100-16w) are OID registration nodes identifying specific Buffalo product models, not runtime data objects, so this module is honestly a naming/registration structure rather than a source of pollable metrics. Actual monitoring of a given Buffalo switch or NAS unit's operational status would occur through a separate, product-specific MIB registered beneath one of these nodes.
