Organization: BDCOM, Inc.

Last Updated: 2003-10-16

Category: Device Management, Textual Conventions and Registries, Vendor: BDCOM

Description: Defines textual conventions and base data types shared across BDCOM Networking MIB modules.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is BDCOM-TC?

BDCOM-TC is a textual-conventions-only MIB module published by BDCOM, a Chinese networking equipment vendor, to define shared data types reused across BDCOM's family of enterprise SNMP MIBs. It contains no MODULE-IDENTITY description of substance and no sample runtime objects, consistent with its role as a pure TEXTUAL-CONVENTION support module rather than a data-bearing MIB. As such it exposes no hardware or software status information itself, no uptime, temperature, CPU, memory, or fault data, and cannot be polled for monitoring purposes. Other BDCOM device MIBs (for switches, routers, or optical equipment) import types from this module, so it is a foundational dependency for the rest of the BDCOM MIB tree rather than a standalone monitoring target. It is present on any BDCOM-managed network device purely to satisfy compilation dependencies for other BDCOM MIBs, making the BDCOM-TC MIB a foundational reference rather than a standalone monitoring target.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in BDCOM-TC. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • BDCOM networking equipment (switches/routers), vendor-neutral within the BDCOM product line

Monitoring Examples

BDCOM-TC defines no tables or scalar objects of its own; it only supplies shared TEXTUAL-CONVENTION type definitions consumed by other BDCOM MIBs. There is therefore no realistic monitoring scenario for this module in isolation, it must be loaded alongside a data-bearing BDCOM MIB to be useful.
