Category: Device Management, Vendor: 3Com
Description: Device-specific MIB for the 3Com SuperStack II Switch 9000SX, providing chassis management, slot configuration, and hardware status for this modular chassis.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is A3COM51-SS9000SX?
A3COM51-SS9000SX is a 3Com proprietary MIB for the SuperStack II 9000SX family of switches, exposing per-port traffic counters (received/transmitted packets and bytes) alongside chassis environmental notifications. Its most notable objects are an overheat trap, signaling that the onboard temperature sensor detected an overheat condition causing the unit to shut down until sufficiently cooled, and a cold-start trap issued once the unit resumes operation. As a hardware/performance MIB it lets an administrator both track port-level throughput and catch a thermal shutdown event before assuming a simple power loss. It is deployed on legacy 3Com SuperStack 9000SX switches. Engineers can download the A3COM51-SS9000SX file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in A3COM51-SS9000SX. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- 3Com SuperStack II 9000SX switches
Monitoring Examples
Receiving the overheat trap immediately explains an otherwise-unexpected switch outage as a thermal shutdown rather than a power or hardware failure, prompting a check of the unit's ventilation before it is returned to service.
What Can Be Monitored
- per-port packet/byte counters
- chassis overheat and cold-start trap events
