Description: Defines alias configuration objects for BAS CMTS upstream and downstream channel settings.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is BAS-ALIAS-CMTS-CONFIG-MIB?

BAS-ALIAS-CMTS-CONFIG-MIB defines alias configuration objects for upstream and downstream channel settings on a Broadband Access System (BAS) CMTS cluster, including a PLL (phase-locked loop) configuration table for clock synchronization hardware. Its data is primarily hardware configuration and status for the physical timing/synchronization subsystem of the CMTS chassis. For monitoring, the basCmtsPLLTable is used to confirm the PLL hardware on each chassis/slot/interface/port combination is in the expected operational state -- basCmtsPLLState and basCmtsPLLValue reveal whether the clock synchronization circuitry is locked and reporting a valid value, since PLL faults on a CMTS can cause serious upstream/downstream timing problems across many subscriber cable modems. It is part of a broader BAS CMTS MIB family and depends on the chassis/slot/interface addressing conventions shared with other BAS CMTS modules. It is deployed on cable industry CMTS (Cable Modem Termination System) headend equipment used by broadband cable operators. Engineers can download the BAS-ALIAS-CMTS-CONFIG-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in BAS-ALIAS-CMTS-CONFIG-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • cable industry CMTS (Cable Modem Termination System) headend equipment

Monitoring Examples

An operator would walk basCmtsPLLTable/basCmtsPLLEntry, indexed by basCmtsPLLChassis, basCmtsPLLSlot, basCmtsPLLIf, and basCmtsPLLLPort, and check basCmtsPLLState to confirm each line card's PLL is locked, with basCmtsPLLValue reporting the actual synchronization value. A PLL reported as unlocked or with an out-of-range basCmtsPLLValue on a given slot would indicate a clock synchronization fault likely to disrupt upstream data from cable modems served by that card. This kind of check would typically be run as part of routine CMTS chassis health checks.

What Can Be Monitored

  • PLL lock state per slot/port
  • PLL synchronization value
  • chassis/slot/interface PLL configuration
