What Is AVICI-TC?

AVICI-TC is a textual-conventions MIB that defines shared enumerated types and data formats used across the full family of Avici Systems backbone router management MIBs. As a textual-conventions module, it defines no managed objects, tables, or scalars of its own and thus exposes no runtime monitoring data directly. Its purpose is to standardize how Avici's other MIBs represent common concepts (such as status codes or identifiers) so that hardware and software status reported by those companion MIBs is typed consistently. It is a foundational dependency for essentially every other Avici Systems MIB module, since those modules import its type definitions. It is used wherever Avici Systems core/backbone routers are deployed and managed via SNMP, as an underlying support module rather than a directly polled one. Looking up an AVICI-TC OID directly returns nothing pollable, since this module only supplies the type definitions imported by name into companion Avici MIBs.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in AVICI-TC. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Avici Systems backbone/core routers

Monitoring Examples

This module contains no sample objects—it only defines textual convention types referenced by other Avici MIBs. There is no monitoring scenario to describe since it exposes no runtime data; an administrator would instead poll the specific Avici hardware or software status MIBs that import these type definitions.
