Description: Defines the Barracuda Networks enterprise OID reference hierarchy used across Barracuda security appliance MIB modules.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is BARRACUDA-REF?
BARRACUDA-REF is a root/reference MIB defining the enterprise OID hierarchy used across Barracuda Networks' family of security appliance MIB modules. It does not itself model live device data; instead it serves as the organizational anchor from which other Barracuda product MIBs (e.g., spam firewall, web filter) derive their object identifiers. Because it contains no runtime objects, it has no direct role in monitoring hardware or software status - that responsibility belongs to the product-specific MIBs built on top of it. Its notable dependency is structural: every other Barracuda-* MIB module imports OID nodes from this reference module. It is relevant wherever Barracuda security appliances are deployed, as a prerequisite for interpreting any Barracuda-specific OID. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the BARRACUDA-REF file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in BARRACUDA-REF. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Barracuda Networks security appliances (general, root reference for the product line)
Monitoring Examples
This is a reference/anchor module defining only the OID tree root(s) used by Barracuda products; it contains no runtime data objects or tables, so there is no monitoring scenario to describe here honestly. Other Barracuda MIBs (for example, spam or web-filtering appliance MIBs) import these root OIDs to place their own managed objects underneath.
