Description: Manages eXpandable Ethernet Module (XEM) line card status, port configuration, and performance on Allied Telesis modular switches.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is AT-XEM-MIB?
AT-XEM MIB is an Allied Telesis enterprise MIB for monitoring eXpandable Ethernet Modules (XEMs), pluggable line cards installed in modular Allied Telesis switch chassis. It is intended to expose module-level status and configuration data such as port configuration and card presence/operational state, and general performance information for ports on the module. Its central monitoring purpose is hardware status: confirming that an installed XEM card is present, recognized, and operating normally, which is a proxy for chassis hardware health on modular switches. As a hardware-inventory MIB it likely complements ENTITY-MIB and IF-MIB, which provide the broader physical-entity and interface framework the XEM ports plug into. It is typically deployed on Allied Telesis modular switch chassis where expansion modules are added to increase port density or media type support. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the AT-XEM-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in AT-XEM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Allied Telesis modular switch chassis
- Allied Telesis eXpandable Ethernet Module (XEM) line card
Monitoring Examples
No sample objects were supplied for this module, so specific table/column names cannot be cited; based on the module description, an administrator would poll XEM slot/status objects to confirm a module is detected and operational, and check per-port configuration/performance counters on the module's ports. An XEM reported as absent or in a fault state when it should be installed and operating would indicate a hardware or seating problem. Without an object list, more granular monitoring detail cannot be responsibly invented.
