Category: Quality of Service, Vendor: Ascend/Lucent
Description: Manages quality of service queue configuration, scheduling, and marking on Ascend equipment.

What Is ASCEND-MIBQOS-MIB?
ASCEND-MIBQOS-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from Ascend Communications, Inc. (imported under the configuration branch of ASCEND-MIB), auto-generated by Ascend's mibgen tooling for use with TAOS-based Ascend access equipment. It defines a small quality-of-service configuration model: mibqosProfileTable, a single-row profile that enables or disables system-wide QoS support and controls whether client-set DSCP markings are honored, plus an action object used to create or delete the profile; and mibqosProfile-TagMapTable, which maps specific DSCP (IP TOS) values to an outbound QoS tag, with each mapping entry independently activatable. As a configuration-only MIB it does not expose traffic counters itself, but reading it tells an operator whether QoS enforcement is turned on for the device and exactly how DSCP values are being translated into internal QoS tags for scheduling elsewhere in the system. It depends on the base ASCEND-MIB for device identification and on the underlying TAOS QoS/scheduling subsystem that actually applies these mappings to traffic. It is deployed on Ascend (later Lucent/Nortel) TAOS-based access and routing equipment, and administrators can download the ASCEND-MIBQOS-MIB file to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ASCEND-MIBQOS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Ascend Communications TAOS-based access/routing equipment (later Lucent/Nortel)
Monitoring Examples
An operator reads qosProfile-Enabled and qosProfile-AllowClientDscp to confirm QoS is active and client DSCP marking is trusted, then walks mibqosProfile-TagMapTable to verify qosProfile-TagMap-Dscp/qosProfile-TagMap-QosTag pairs match the intended policy; a QoS-enabled profile with no active tag-map entries (qosProfile-TagMap-Active set to no) would explain why marked traffic is not receiving expected scheduling treatment.
What Can Be Monitored
- global QoS enable/disable state
- client DSCP trust setting
- DSCP-to-QoS-tag mapping table entries
- mapping entry active/inactive state
- profile create/delete action status
