Category: ATM, Vendor: Ascend/Lucent
Description: Manages ATM LAN Emulation (LANE) client and server configuration on Ascend ATM equipment.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ASCEND-MIBLESNET-MIB?
ASCEND-MIBLESNET-MIB is a proprietary Ascend Communications MIB for configuring ATM LAN Emulation (LANE) clients and servers on Ascend ATM-capable switching and access equipment. It exposes configuration data describing LANE component roles (LEC, LES, BUS, LECS) and their ATM addressing and binding parameters. For status monitoring it is used mainly to confirm software-level service health: whether a LANE client has successfully joined its emulated LAN, whether server components are reachable, and whether ATM address resolution is functioning, rather than exposing hardware sensors. It depends on and is used together with standard ATM MIBs for the underlying physical/VCC layer. It was deployed in legacy campus and carrier ATM networks bridging Ethernet-style LANs over ATM backbones during the late 1990s. Engineers can download the ASCEND-MIBLESNET-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ASCEND-MIBLESNET-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Ascend ATM switch
- Ascend ATM access equipment
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would check LANE client and server status entries (an ascendLecTable/ascendLesEntry style structure) to verify a client is in the 'operational' join state with the correct emulated LAN, and would flag a client stuck in an initial or configuration state as evidence of an ATM signaling or LECS reachability problem. Because no sample objects were supplied, these table names are inferred from the described LANE functionality rather than taken from the actual MIB source.
What Can Be Monitored
- LANE client join status
- LES/BUS reachability
- ATM address bindings
- emulated LAN membership
- LEC configuration state
