What Is ASCEND-MIBFILTR-MIB?
This proprietary Ascend Communications MIB manages packet filter rule sets and access control lists on Ascend WAN access equipment. It exposes configuration data describing filter rule sets and, where available, counters reflecting filter rule matches. Its monitoring value is confirming the software-enforced security/traffic policy is active as intended — an operator checks that the correct filter rules are applied to an interface and reviews match counters to verify traffic is being permitted or blocked as configured, useful for diagnosing why legitimate traffic is being dropped or unwanted traffic is getting through. It is a vendor-proprietary MIB with no direct IETF standard equivalent, specific to Ascend's WAN access filtering implementation. It was deployed on legacy Ascend/Lucent WAN access routers and concentrators enforcing basic packet filtering/ACL policy. Engineers can download the ASCEND-MIBFILTR-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
