All MIBs › ASCEND-MCAST-MIB
Category: IP and Core Protocols, Vendor: Ascend/Lucent
Description: Manages IP multicast routing tables and group membership on Ascend access equipment.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ASCEND-MCAST-MIB?
ASCEND-MCAST-MIB is a legacy Ascend Communications (later Lucent, built on ASCEND-MIB) proprietary MIB configuring the multicast HeartBeat mechanism used for redundancy/failover signaling. Its objects cover the multicast group address used to receive HeartBeat packets, the source address, slot-time interval, slot count, and packet count. As a configuration/performance MIB it lets an administrator confirm HeartBeat multicast configuration and packet volume on a legacy Ascend (Lucent) redundant WAN access device. It is deployed on legacy Ascend Communications (Lucent) WAN access equipment. Engineers can download the ASCEND-MCAST-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ASCEND-MCAST-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Legacy Ascend Communications (Lucent) WAN access equipment
Monitoring Examples
An administrator checks heartBeatPacketCount to confirm HeartBeat redundancy signaling is active on a legacy Ascend (Lucent) WAN access device.
What Can Be Monitored
- HeartBeat multicast redundancy-signaling configuration
