Category: DSL and Broadband, Textual Conventions and Registries

Description: Defines textual conventions for ADSL Subscriber Access Multiplexer MIB modules.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ASAM-TC-MIB?

ASAM-TC-MIB is a textual-convention (TC) support module defining shared data types used across the ADSL Subscriber Access Multiplexer (ASAM) family of MIBs, a naming pattern historically associated with Alcatel-Lucent/Nokia DSLAM products. It defines no managed objects of its own; instead it supplies TEXTUAL-CONVENTION type definitions that other ASAM MIB modules import and reuse for consistent data typing. It has no direct role in monitoring hardware or software status — there are no runtime objects, counters, or traps in this module; its sole function is to standardize data types for the 'real' ASAM MIBs that expose actual DSLAM status and configuration. By design this module is a dependency imported by other ASAM-* MIB modules (configuration and status MIBs for the DSLAM chassis/line cards) rather than standing alone. It's present wherever an ASAM/DSLAM platform's full MIB suite is loaded by a MIB compiler or NMS, as a required supporting module rather than a standalone monitored entity. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the ASAM-TC-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ASAM-TC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Monitoring Examples

This module is type-definition-only — it contains no runtime data objects or tables (sample_objects is empty) — so there is no monitoring scenario to describe; its only function is to be IMPORTed by other ASAM MIBs that supply the actual DSLAM status and configuration objects.
