Description: ARRIS DOCSIS cable modem device configuration, registration status, and diagnostics.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ARRIS-CM-DEVICE-MIB?

ARRIS-CM-DEVICE-MIB is an ARRIS Broadband vendor-specific MIB (under arrisProdIdCM) that supplies proprietary management objects for ARRIS DOCSIS cable modem (CM) devices, layered on top of the standard DOCSIS cable modem MIBs. It exposes device-level configuration and identity objects such as arrisCmDevWanIsolationState (controls whether home-network traffic is isolated from the WAN/Internet), arrisCmDevSwImageName and arrisCmDevSwImageBuildTime (currently running firmware image and build date), arrisCmDevProvMethodIndicator (provisioning method: DOCSIS-only, full PacketCable, CPS, GUPI, single-MAC), and arrisCmDevEnableDocsis20 (DOCSIS 2.0 mode toggle requiring reboot). This data is useful for confirming provisioning mode and firmware version on deployed modems and for diagnosing customer-reported connectivity issues caused by WAN isolation being incorrectly enabled. It depends on and complements the standard DOCSIS cable modem MIBs for registration/PHY-layer status, and administrators can download the ARRIS-CM-DEVICE-MIB file to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ARRIS-CM-DEVICE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • ARRIS DOCSIS cable modems

Monitoring Examples

A support technician polls arrisCmDevWanIsolationState and arrisCmDevProvMethodIndicator on a subscriber's modem to check whether WAN Isolation is stuck in on-ActiveMode(2) or whether the modem provisioned into an unexpected mode like packetCableMinusKDC; an unexpected active isolation state would explain a customer's total loss of Internet connectivity despite DOCSIS registration succeeding.

What Can Be Monitored

  • WAN isolation state
  • firmware image name and build time
  • provisioning method indicator
  • DOCSIS 2.0 mode enable flag
  • device configuration setup groups
