Description: Defines managed objects for monitoring and controlling APPN Dependent LU Requester (DLUR) capabilities in Advanced Peer-to-Peer Networking environments.

IPNetwork Monitor uses several OIDs from this MIB in network discovery and polling the applicable devices. Start monitoring APPN-DLUR-MIB with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor.

What Is APPN-DLUR-MIB?

APPN-DLUR-MIB is an IETF standards-based module for managing devices implementing APPN Dependent LU Requester (DLUR) capability in IBM SNA/APPN networking environments. It exposes node-level capability/configuration data (release level, ANS support, multi-subnet support, default DLUS server names) and per-physical-unit tables tracking DLUR-DLUS session relationships. Its monitoring emphasis is on software/protocol state rather than classic hardware sensors, reflecting the health of APPN/SNA session establishment between DLUR nodes and their DLUS servers. As an IETF RFC-based MIB it is designed to work alongside a companion DLUS-side management module and the broader APPN-MIB family. It is deployed on legacy SNA/APPN gateways or routers in enterprise networks that carry dependent LU (e.g., 3270 terminal) sessions, making the APPN-DLUR-MIB reference a useful resource for administrators managing DLUR/DLUS session configuration on such gateways.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in APPN-DLUR-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, not tied to a specific manufacturer
  • SNA/APPN gateway or router implementing DLUR

Monitoring Examples

dlurNodeCpName and dlurReleaseLevel identify the DLUR node and its supported APPN release, while dlurDefaultDefPrimDlusName and the dlurDefaultDefBackupDlusTable/Entry (indexed by dlurDefaultDefBackupDlusIndex) show which DLUS servers are configured as primary/backup for dependent LU sessions. dlurPuTable lets an admin monitor each physical unit's DLUR relationship, spotting a PU that has lost its session to its DLUS server, signaling that dependent LU traffic will fail.

What Can Be Monitored

  • DLUR node release level/capabilities
  • default primary/backup DLUS name
  • per-PU DLUR-DLUS session association
  • ANS and multi-subnet support flags
