What Is APEX9-MIB?
APEX9-MIB is a proprietary MIB from BigBand Networks for the APEX9 (LL-1000) extended video gateway platform, part of the same APEX product family used at cable/broadband headends for QAM and transport-stream processing. It exposes device identification and inventory data, including free-text device name and description fields, current date and time, and separate product and serial numbers for the IDU (Indoor Unit) and ODU (Outdoor Unit) hardware components of the system. Monitoring here is primarily hardware-inventory and identification status: sysFceBasDevIduSerNum and sysFceBasDevOduSerNum, together with their product-number counterparts, let an admin verify which physical IDU/ODU hardware units are installed and confirm they match expected part numbers, while sysFceBasDevDate and sysFceBasDevTime support confirming the device's clock is correctly synchronized. It shares BigBand Networks' enterprise OID branch and conventions with the related APEX-MIB module. It is deployed at cable/MSO video headend and outdoor RF distribution sites running BigBand APEX9 (LL-1000) gateway hardware for QAM/transport-stream processing, and the APEX9-MIB MIB defines the object identifiers used to manage this hardware.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in APEX9-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll sysFceBasDevIduSerNum and sysFceBasDevOduSerNum together with their corresponding product-number objects to verify the correct IDU/ODU hardware pairing is installed at a given site. Checking sysFceBasDevDate and sysFceBasDevTime confirms the device's onboard clock hasn't drifted from the expected time source, which would otherwise cause timestamp mismatches in logged events. Reviewing the sysFceBasDevAddDesc1 through AddDesc5 fields provides additional free-text inventory or location detail useful during a site audit.
