Description: Alteon Cheetah switch network MIB for managing IP interfaces, routing, and network-level configuration parameters.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ALTEON-CHEETAH-NETWORK-MIB?
ALTEON-CHEETAH-NETWORK-MIB (module identity layer3, under aws-switch) is a Radware (originally Nortel/Alteon "Cheetah") vendor-specific MIB covering Layer 3 configuration, statistics, and operational state on Alteon application-switch platforms. It organizes objects into layer3Configs (ipInterfaceCfg's ipCurCfgIntfTable/ipNewCfgIntfTable for current and pending IP interface addressing, VLAN association, and IPv4/IPv6 mode via ipCurCfgIntfIpVer, plus gateway, static-route, VRRP, ARP, BOOTP, DNS, route-map, BGP, OSPF, and RIPv2 config groups), layer3Stats (arpStats, routeStats, dnsStats, vrrpStats, ospfStats, rip2Stats, tcpStats), and layer3Info/layer3Oper for live routing/ARP/VRRP/OSPF/RIP operational tables. This makes it useful for monitoring IP interface state, dynamic-routing-protocol health (OSPF/BGP/RIPv2/VRRP), and ARP/route-table population on Alteon load-balancing/application switches, since a mismatch between ipNewCfgIntfTable (pending) and ipCurCfgIntfTable (active) configuration often signals a change awaiting apply/save. It depends on ALTEON-ROOT-MIB (aws-switch) for its OID placement and SNMPv2-SMI/SNMPv2-TC conventions, and network teams working with these switches can download the ALTEON-CHEETAH-NETWORK-MIB file for their SNMP tooling.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ALTEON-CHEETAH-NETWORK-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Alteon (Radware) Cheetah-based application switches (AlteonOS switch family)
Monitoring Examples
An operator polls vrrpStats and ospfStats to confirm VRRP mastership and OSPF adjacency counters on an IP interface indexed via ipCurCfgIntfIndex, then compares ipCurCfgIntfState to ipNewCfgIntfTable's pending entry; a disabled current interface state alongside a differing pending configuration would indicate an unapplied configuration change is preventing the interface from routing traffic.
What Can Be Monitored
- current and pending IP interface address/VLAN configuration
- ARP table statistics and entries
- VRRP operational/statistics state
- OSPF/BGP/RIPv2 routing statistics
- DNS and BOOTP relay statistics
- TCP protocol statistics

RFC description
Alteon vendor-private MIB for Cheetah network switches; manages load balancing, traffic control, and network fabric configuration.
Start monitoring Alteon (Nortel/Radware) Cheetah-based application switches (legacy) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
