What Is ALCATEL-IND1-RDP-MIB?

ALCATEL-IND1-RDP-MIB is Alcatel's (OmniSwitch IND1 platform) proprietary MIB for configuring ICMP Router Discovery Protocol (IRDP) behavior on switch/router interfaces, letting hosts on a LAN discover default gateways via router advertisements. It exposes a global RDP status flag and a per-interface table covering the advertised interface address, enable/row status, minimum advertisement interval, advertised lifetime, and preference level, along with a VRRP-related status object. Its monitoring focus is configuration/operational status of the router-discovery service on each interface - whether RDP is enabled, how frequently and how long advertisements are valid, and the router's preference - rather than hardware sensors. It builds on the standard IRDP concept (RFC 1256) though implemented as an Alcatel enterprise-specific MIB, and its VRRP status object suggests some interaction with the switch's VRRP implementation. It is typically deployed on Alcatel OmniSwitch chassis, where ALCATEL-IND1-RDP-MIB SNMP monitoring helps confirm IRDP is correctly configured so end hosts can discover default gateways automatically.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ALCATEL-IND1-RDP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Alcatel OmniSwitch (IND1 platform) switch/router

Monitoring Examples

An operator would check alaRDPStatus for the global enable state, then walk alaRDPIfTable/alaRDPIfEntry via alaRDPIfAddr to see per-interface alaRDPIfStatus, alaRDPIfMinAdvtInterval, alaRDPIfAdvLifeTime, and alaRDPIfPrefLevel. If alaRDPIfStatus shows RDP enabled but alaRDPVrrpStatus indicates the VRRP master role isn't held, hosts might be receiving advertisements from the wrong device as the preferred gateway. This lets operators confirm router-discovery advertisements are correctly scoped and prioritized across redundant gateways.

What Can Be Monitored

  • RDP global enable status
  • per-interface RDP status
  • advertisement interval
  • advertised lifetime
  • router preference level
  • VRRP interaction status
