Description: Alcatel OmniSwitch OSPFv2 routing protocol MIB for managing OSPF areas, interfaces, neighbors, and LSA parameters.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ALCATEL-IND1-OSPF-MIB?
ALCATEL-IND1-OSPF-MIB is an Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch proprietary MIB for configuring OSPFv2 routing, and in this sample the exposed objects are specifically the OSPF debug-logging controls -- switches that turn on/off detailed diagnostic tracing for OSPF errors, warnings, state transitions, packet receive/send, flooding, SPF calculation, the link-state database, routing database, interface aging, and virtual links. Rather than exposing traffic counters, this portion of the MIB is a software-diagnostics control surface, letting operators enable targeted debug logging to troubleshoot OSPF adjacency or convergence problems as they happen. Its monitoring value is therefore indirect: it doesn't report link/CPU/memory health itself, but toggling alaOspfDebugState or alaOspfDebugSPF lets an engineer capture live OSPF protocol behavior when neighbors flap or routes fail to converge. The full OSPF MIB, of which this is the global-configuration portion, is built as an Alcatel extension layered over the standard OSPF routing model (RFC 1850 OSPF-MIB), with these objects supplementing rather than replacing the standard MIB's operational objects. It is typically used by network engineers on Alcatel/Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch routers/switches to debug OSPF neighbor and convergence issues in a live production network. Engineers can download the ALCATEL-IND1-OSPF-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ALCATEL-IND1-OSPF-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Alcatel/Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch router/switch
Monitoring Examples
A network engineer suspecting flapping OSPF adjacencies sets alaOspfDebugState and alaOspfDebugRecv/alaOspfDebugSend to enable detailed state-transition and packet-level tracing, then reviews the resulting debug output for an unstable virtual link surfaced via alaOspfDebugVlink. Turning on alaOspfDebugSPF and alaOspfDebugLsdb would similarly help diagnose repeated SPF recalculations caused by an unstable link-state database entry.
What Can Be Monitored
- OSPF debug logging level
- OSPF error/warning logging
- OSPF state transition tracing
- OSPF packet send/receive tracing
- SPF/LSDB/RDB debug tracing
- virtual link debug tracing
