Description: Monitors power supply status and input parameters on AI-series network access devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is AISYSCFGPOWER-MIB?

AISYSCFGPOWER-MIB is a vendor-specific SNMP module for AI-series network access devices, focused on the power subsystem of the chassis. It exposes data organized around power feeds and power converters, each represented in indexed tables with descriptive names and status codes, plus an aggregate power status object and trap information. This MIB is squarely a hardware-health monitoring module: it lets an operator track the aggregate power supply status, the health of individual power feeds, and the state of power converter modules, effectively surfacing power-supply faults before they cause an outage. It appears to stand alone rather than depending heavily on other MIBs, aside from standard SNMPv2 conventions for tables and traps. It would typically be deployed by network operations teams polling access/aggregation switches or routers in a telecom or enterprise access network to catch power redundancy failures early. Engineers can download the AISYSCFGPOWER-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in AISYSCFGPOWER-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • AI-series network access device
  • telecom access/aggregation switch or router

Monitoring Examples

An admin would poll aiSCPowerAgregateStatus for a quick top-level system power check, then walk aiSCPowerFeedTable (indexed by aiSCPowerFeedIndex) to see each feed's aiSCPowerFeedStatus and aiSCPowerFeedDescription. Similarly, aiSCPowerConverterTable entries expose aiSCPowerConverterStatus per aiSCPowerConverterIndex, revealing which converter module has failed or is running out of tolerance. A feed or converter status changing to a fault value, combined with an aiSCPowerTrapInfo notification, would indicate a power supply or converter failure requiring on-site replacement.

What Can Be Monitored

  • aggregate power status
  • individual power feed status
  • power feed description
  • power converter status
  • power converter description
  • power-related trap events

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using aiSCPowerAgregateStatus OID:

Select an Applied Innovation network access equipment (legacy) as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type aiSCPowerAgregateStatus into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, then select it and click OK. It reports the aggregate status of the power in the system. okay(1) indicates no problems, while trouble(2) indicates that some part of the power supply system is not functioning properly. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is an INTEGER-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the value is anything other than 'okay', since that indicates the condition this object reports has changed to one worth investigating. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
