Description: Manages asynchronous serial port configuration and session status on AI-series Serial Line Card modules.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is AISLCASYNC-MIB?
AISLCASYNC-MIB is a proprietary Applied Innovation MIB for managing asynchronous serial links on Smart Line Card (SLC) modules, covering per-link application assignment, connection options, and call state. It exposes tables describing each async link's configured application, direct-connect alias, flow-control (Xon) interval, and active call/session state, as well as a separate connection-options table for DSR-based behaviors. For hardware/software status monitoring it primarily lets an administrator confirm whether each serial link is idle, connected, or in a call, and whether latency-minimizing and flow-control options are applied as expected, which helps detect a hung or misconfigured async port. It is a companion module to AISLC1-MIB (hardware identity) and AISLCSYSCFG-MIB (system-wide config), sharing the same "ai" enterprise tree rather than any IETF standard. It is typically deployed on Applied Innovation Smart Line Cards providing async terminal/modem access, making AISLCASYNC-MIB SNMP monitoring a routine part of telecom remote access and console-server deployments.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in AISLCASYNC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Applied Innovation Smart Line Card (SLC) async module
Monitoring Examples
An operator would walk aiSLCAsyncTable/aiSLCAsyncEntry indexed by aislcasyLinkNumber to check aislcasyCallState for each async port, revealing which serial links are currently active versus idle, and inspect aislcasyApplication and aislcasyDirectConnectAlias to confirm the correct application is bound to a link. A link stuck in an unexpected aislcasyCallState, or aiSLCAsyncConnOptTable showing aislcacoOnActiveDSR misconfigured, would indicate a stalled or misconfigured serial session.
What Can Be Monitored
- per-link call state
- application bound to link
- direct-connect alias
- flow-control (Xon) interval
- DSR-related connection options
