Last Updated: 2009-11-25

Category: Telephony and VoIP, Vendor: AudioCodes

Description: Manages V5 access network interfaces (V5.1/V5.2) on AudioCodes media gateways, providing PSTN access protocol configuration and link status monitoring.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is AC-V5-MIB?

This MIB manages V5.1/V5.2 access-network interfaces on AudioCodes media gateways, the standardized interface used to connect access networks (e.g., DSLAMs, remote concentrators) to a PSTN local exchange. It provides configuration for the V5 access protocol along with link-status monitoring for the V5 interface. Although no sample objects were supplied, V5 MIBs of this nature typically expose V5 link and control-channel status, giving clear protocol status-monitoring value -- confirming whether the V5 link is up and correctly provisioned is critical to keeping access-line service operational. It is based on the ETSI V5.1/V5.2 standard and likely complements AC-PSTN-MIB for trunk-side configuration on the same gateway. It's deployed on AudioCodes media gateways acting as a V5 access gateway between an access network and the PSTN core. Engineers can download the AC-V5-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in AC-V5-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • AudioCodes media gateways

Monitoring Examples

No sample object names were provided for this module; typically, an operator managing a V5 gateway would monitor V5 link/interface status to confirm the V5.1 or V5.2 link to the local exchange is up, since a down V5 link would take an entire group of subscriber lines out of service simultaneously.

What Can Be Monitored

  • V5 interface/link status
  • V5 protocol version (V5.1/V5.2) configuration
