Description: Handles configuration of Virtual Switch Instances (VSI) on H3C/3Com equipment for VPLS and other L2VPN services, including VSI endpoint and encapsulation settings.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is A3COM-HUAWEI-VSI-MIB?
A3COM-HUAWEI-VSI-MIB is an H3C/3Com vendor MIB for managing Virtual Switch Instance (VSI) configuration used in VPLS and other Layer-2 VPN services on H3C/3Com devices. It exposes a VSI table covering per-instance identifiers, naming, operating mode, MinM/ISID values, transport mode, hub-and-spoke settings, administrative state, and row-creation status for each virtual switch instance. Its monitoring role is mainly configuration/administrative-state visibility for the L2VPN service: an operator can check whether a given VSI is administratively up and correctly provisioned, which is important service-status information for VPLS connectivity even though it is not a hardware-health MIB per se. It is a vendor extension for L2VPN/VPLS functionality, implicitly building on standard MPLS/VPLS architecture concepts though not shown depending on a specific external MIB. It's deployed on H3C/3Com provider-edge routers/switches offering VPLS or other L2VPN services to multiple customer sites. Engineers can download the A3COM-HUAWEI-VSI-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in A3COM-HUAWEI-VSI-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- H3C/3Com provider-edge router/switch offering VPLS/L2VPN
Monitoring Examples
Polling h3cVsiTable/h3cVsiEntry keyed by h3cVsiIndex returns h3cVsiName, h3cVsiMode, h3cVsiId, and h3cVsiAdminState, letting an operator confirm a given VSI is administratively enabled and correctly identified for a customer's VPLS instance. h3cVsiTransMode and h3cVsiEnableHubSpoke reveal the transport/topology mode configured for that instance, useful for diagnosing a misconfigured hub-and-spoke topology, and h3cVsiRowStatus shows whether the row is fully active or still being created/deleted. h3cVsiNextAvailableVsiIndex helps a provisioning tool find the next free VSI slot when adding a new customer instance.
What Can Be Monitored
- VSI administrative state
- VSI name/identifier
- VSI operating mode
- VSI transport mode
- hub-and-spoke enable status
- VSI row status
