What Is A3COM-HUAWEI-DOT11S-MESH-MIB?

A3COM-HUAWEI-DOT11S-MESH-MIB is an H3C (3Com/Huawei joint venture) module for managing IEEE 802.11s wireless mesh networking, covering mesh topology, mesh profile configuration, and path/link status across access points participating in a mesh. It exposes configuration data (mesh ID, keepalive interval, backhaul rate, mesh key distributor settings) and status groups reflecting current mesh topology and link health. This supports monitoring the operational status of wireless mesh access points, since keepalive and backhaul-rate values reveal whether a mesh link is healthy, and the mesh status group reveals whether an AP remains properly linked into the mesh topology or has fallen out of it. It implements the IEEE 802.11s wireless mesh standard within an H3C-specific object tree covering both fat and fit AP architectures. It is deployed on H3C wireless mesh access points and controllers in outdoor or campus mesh Wi-Fi deployments. Engineers can download the A3COM-HUAWEI-DOT11S-MESH-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

The h3cDot11sMeshPflTable/Entry, indexed by h3cDot11sMeshPflIndex, holds per-profile fields such as h3cDot11sMeshPflMeshID, h3cDot11sMeshPflBindIntNum, h3cDot11sMeshPflKeepAlive, and h3cDot11sMeshPflBackhaulRate. An administrator would poll h3cDot11sMeshPflKeepAlive and the h3cDot11sMeshStatusGroup objects to detect a mesh AP that has lost its backhaul link or dropped out of the mesh topology.

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using h3cDot11sMeshLinkRxTotByte OID:

Select an H3C wireless mesh APs and controller as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type h3cDot11sMeshLinkRxTotByte into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. Represents the amount of bytes that the mesh link received. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is a Counter32-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the counter increases sharply between polls relative to its normal baseline, since an unexpected spike often reflects a real change in traffic or activity. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
