What Is A3COM-HUAWEI-DOT11-ACMT-MIB?

A3COM-HUAWEI-DOT11-ACMT-MIB is an H3C wireless-networking MIB that models the Access Controller (AC) to Access Point (AP) management topology in an IEEE 802.11 WLAN deployment, tracking which APs are tunnelled to which wireless controller. It exposes data such as the AC's current operating mode, the maximum permitted number of APs and stations, and per-interface counts of connected APs and stations. Its monitoring focus is WLAN capacity and operational status: administrators use it to watch AP/station connection counts against configured maximums and to gauge per-interface load on the controller, effectively a health and capacity view of the wireless control plane rather than classic hardware sensors. The MIB explicitly notes a relationship to the standard ENTITY-MIB, recommending entPhysicalIndex be used to cross-reference detailed physical entity information for APs and the AC. It is deployed in enterprise/campus WLAN environments using H3C wireless access controllers and access points. An operator would poll h3cDot11APConnectCount and h3cDot11StationConnectCount against h3cDot11MaxAPNumPermitted and h3cDot11MaxStationNumPermitted to see how close the AC is to its licensed or hardware capacity limits. The h3cDot11ACIFLoadInfoTable (with entries keyed by h3cDot11ACIfIndex) exposes per-interface AP and station counts via h3cDot11ACIfApNum and h3cDot11ACIfStaNum, revealing which uplink or tunnel interface is carrying the most wireless load. A sudden drop in h3cDot11MasterAPCount could indicate AP failover or a controller losing contact with a subset of its access points.

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using h3cDot11AcUploadFrameCnt OID:

Select an H3C wireless controller or access point as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type h3cDot11AcUploadFrameCnt into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, then select it and click OK. Represents the number of frames that AP sends to AC through LWAPP tunnel. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is a Counter64-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the counter increases sharply between polls relative to its normal baseline, since an unexpected spike often reflects a real change in traffic or activity. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
