Description: Manages Zhone SNMP master agent configuration including subagent registration and proxy settings.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ZhoneMasterAgent-MIB?
This is a Zhone Technologies private MIB that describes the SNMP master agent implementation on Zhone broadband access equipment, extending beyond the standard RFC 1907 (SNMPv2-MIB) definitions to expose Zhone-specific master-agent behavior such as subagent registration and proxy handling. Rather than device-facing hardware or traffic data, it exposes SNMP-infrastructure configuration, specifically how subagents attach to the master agent and how requests are proxied between them within the device's modular SNMP stack. Its monitoring relevance is largely about the health of the management plane itself, verifying that expected subagents (which typically expose the device's real interface, environment, and performance MIBs) are properly registered, since a missing or unregistered subagent means its associated OIDs will be unreachable even though the device itself is up. It explicitly depends on and extends RFC 1907's SNMP framework definitions. It is deployed on Zhone multi-service access nodes and DSLAM/broadband platforms that use a modular, multi-subagent SNMP architecture. Engineers can download the ZhoneMasterAgent-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ZhoneMasterAgent-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Monitoring Examples
No concrete sample objects were provided for this MIB, so a specific object-level polling scenario cannot be described; based on the module description, an administrator would use its subagent/proxy registration objects to confirm which functional subagents (for example interface, alarm, or performance subagents) are currently attached to the master agent. A subagent that has failed to register would explain why an otherwise-reachable Zhone device is returning no-such-object errors for a whole functional area of its MIB tree. This makes the MIB primarily a management-plane diagnostic tool rather than a source of device operational metrics.
