What Is ZYXEL-RIP-MIB?

ZYXEL-RIP-MIB is a ZyXEL private enterprise MIB managing the Routing Information Protocol on ZyXEL layer-3 devices for dynamic route exchange in small networks. It exposes RIP configuration such as enabled interfaces, RIP version, and route redistribution settings. Monitoring confirms RIP is running and exchanging routes as expected on the correct interfaces, a protocol/software-state health check that reveals routing configuration problems rather than hardware faults. It builds directly on the standard RIP protocol (RFC 2453) and standard RIPv2-MIB conventions. It is deployed on small-to-midsize ZyXEL layer-3 switches/routers using RIP for simple dynamic routing between a handful of subnets. Engineers can download the ZYXEL-RIP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ZYXEL-RIP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

What Can Be Monitored

  • RIP enable status per interface
  • RIP version configuration
  • route redistribution settings

Supported Devices

  • ZyXEL layer-3 switch/router

Monitoring Examples

No object/table names were present in the sampled data. Per the module description ("the subtree for Routing Information Protocol"), the module exposes per-interface RIP enable/version configuration that an administrator checks to confirm RIP is active on expected interfaces and routes are being exchanged.
