What Is ZYXEL-IPV6-PATH-MTU-MIB?
ZYXEL-IPV6-PATH-MTU-MIB is a ZyXEL enterprise MIB defining the subtree for IPv6 Path MTU Discovery, the mechanism by which a device determines the maximum packet size that can traverse a given IPv6 path without fragmentation. It exposes objects for discovered path MTU values per destination and associated aging/refresh timers. Its monitoring relevance centers on network-path software state rather than hardware sensors: an administrator checks discovered MTU values to diagnose IPv6 connectivity problems caused by mismatched MTU sizes or ICMPv6 "packet too big" black-holing along a path. It depends on standard IPv6 (IPV6-MIB) and ICMPv6 conventions for interface and destination addressing. It is deployed on ZyXEL IPv6-capable routers and Layer 3 switches in dual-stack or IPv6-native environments where path MTU issues can cause silent application-layer failures.
