Description: Manages ZyXEL Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol for first-hop router redundancy and gateway failover.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ZYXEL-VRRP-MIB?

ZYXEL-VRRP-MIB is a ZyXEL private enterprise MIB implementing the Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol for first-hop router redundancy and gateway failover. It exposes VRRP configuration and state data such as virtual router group definitions, priority values, and current master/backup role. Monitoring this MIB is directly relevant to software/protocol health, tracking whether a device holds the master or backup role and detecting unexpected role transitions (failovers) that signal a peer router or link failure. It is a direct implementation of the standard IETF VRRP protocol (RFC 3768) and complements the standard VRRP-MIB (RFC 2787) conventions. It is deployed on pairs or groups of ZyXEL layer-3 switches/routers providing redundant default-gateway service to a LAN segment, and administrators can download the ZYXEL-VRRP-MIB file to load it directly into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ZYXEL-VRRP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • ZyXEL layer-3 switch/router

Monitoring Examples

No object/table names were present in the sampled data. Per the module description ("the subtree for Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol"), the module exposes per-VRRP-group priority and current role (master/backup) objects that an administrator polls to confirm the expected router holds the master role and to detect unplanned failovers.

What Can Be Monitored

  • VRRP group configuration
  • virtual router priority
  • current master/backup role
  • failover/role-transition events
