What Is ZXR10-PEB-MIB?

This is a ZTE-specific MIB for the ZXR10 switch/router family, implementing part of the IEEE 802.1BR Port Extender Bridge (also referenced as 802.1ad-style Q-in-Q related bridging) protocol, along with ZTE private extensions. It exposes configuration and status objects describing a port's PEB role (e.g., controlling bridge vs. port extender) and per-port PEB settings such as priority and LLDP-PE TLV handling. Its monitoring value includes both configuration verification and operational status: administrators check pebRole to confirm a port's function in the extended-bridge topology and poll the zxr10PebPortStatusTable to see live per-port PEB operational state, which helps diagnose why a port extender is not properly cascading into the controlling bridge. It builds on IEEE 802.1BR concepts and typically depends on LLDP for exchanging port-extension TLVs between controlling bridge and port extender. It is typically deployed by data center or campus network engineers building port-extender/fabric-extender topologies using ZXR10 switches. Engineers can download the ZXR10-PEB-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ZXR10-PEB-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • ZTE ZXR10 switch/router family

Monitoring Examples

An engineer inspects the zxr10PebPortCfgTable to confirm that pebPortCfgPriority and pebPortCfgLldpPeTlv are correctly set for a port extender uplink, then checks the corresponding zxr10PebPortStatusTable entry (via pebPortStatusPortIndex/pebPortStatusPortName) to confirm the port has successfully established its extended-bridge relationship. If a port extender fails to appear in the controlling bridge's topology, mismatched pebRole or LLDP TLV settings on that port are a likely cause to check first.

What Can Be Monitored

  • port PEB role
  • per-port PEB priority
  • LLDP PE TLV configuration
  • port extender operational status
  • port name/index mapping

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using pebRole OID:

Select a ZTE ZXR10 switch/router family as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type pebRole into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, then select it and click OK. The role of the device in the Extended Bridge system, include controller(Controlling Bridge) and extender(Bridge Port Extender). On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is an INTEGER-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the value changes unexpectedly, since the correct role for this device depends on your Extended Bridge topology and an unplanned change often indicates a fault or misconfiguration. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
